The Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy and Clinical Immunology is a part-time programme delivered online over nine months.

Students must satisfactorily complete modules to the value of 30 credits.

Progression to the Postgraduate Diploma in Allergy and Clinical Immunology (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
A student who subsequently wishes to progress to the Postgraduate Diploma must complete the programme within 5 academic years from the date of successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate Examinations.

Programme Learning Outcomes for Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy and Clinical Immunology (NFQ Level 9, Minor Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

• Identify Basic Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the most relevant principles of allergic and immunologic pathophysiology.
• Apply the skills to conduct an allergy-focused clinical history.
• Discuss the relevant allergic diseases and treatment options, with a particular focus on those elements essential for general practice management and allergy prevention, on the impact of allergic disease, from infancy to adulthood.
• Summarise the basic practice and methodology in allergy, including nutritional development and management in food allergy patients.
• Identify basic allergy tests, pulmonary function tests, anaphylaxis management and inhaler technique.
