Professional Diploma in Business Finance

NFQ Level 9, Special Purpose Award

The Professional Diploma in Business Finance is a part-time programme taken over six months. The programme has two intakes per year: one in Autumn and one in Spring.

Students take 30 credits as follows:

IM6093 Financial Accounting Perspectives for a Business (10 credits)
IM6094 Techniques of Management Accounting for Business (10 credits)
IM6095 Business Finance Capstone (10 credits)

Programme Learning Outcomes for Professional Diploma in Business Finance (NFQ Level 9, Special Purpose Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of organisational finance through the insightful evaluation of financial information so that they can contribute to effective and ethical management decisions;
  • Evaluate the financial implications of business decisions;
  • Identify and source relevant financial management information needed to run a business;
  • Analyse how to use company financial information to improve business performance;
  • Analyse and understand financial accounts across a range of businesses;
  • Create comprehensive business plans;
  • Analyse capital expenditure decisions and determine them ethically;
  • Critically examine corporate finance transactions and their governance;
  • Comment critically on a business valuation.
