The Master of Architecture is a full-time programme extending over 12 months from the date of first registration.

Students take 90 credits as follows:

AT6011 Design Research: Cultures and Context (5 credits)
AT6012 Design Research: Technology Transformations (5 credits)
AT6013 Design Research Studio: Investigation and Formation (20 credits)
AT6014 Design Project (30 credits)
AT6015 Exhibition Design and Implementation (15 credits)
AT6016 Documentation and Dissemination of Design and Design Process (15 credits)

Programme Learning Outcomes for MArch (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

• Analyse the context for an architectural project and select the most appropriate factors, whether they be occupant studies, functional requirements, socio-cultural, historical, landscape and/or economic issues on which to base an architectural response;
• Select and rigorously analyse appropriate technological precedents to inform the development of a technological framework for the major design project;
• Synthesise architectural solutions to identified design problems, with a high level of skill and inventiveness;
• Plan and implement an independent programme of work to generate designs and reports related to those designs;
• Design with respect to regulatory constraints and official guidelines.
