PEER ASSISTED LEARNING (PAL) SCHEME

Note: Every effort has been made to ensure that the programme and module content as described in the University's Calendar and Book of Modules for the 2021-22 academic year are accurate. However, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, no guarantee is given that programme/module content, delivery and assessment may not be altered, cancelled, replaced, augmented or otherwise amended. Any changes will ensure the same competencies and Learning Outcomes are met. Programme and/or Module Coordinators will communicate any such changes to students.

(Non-EU First Year students)

The Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (PAL) is a student-to-student support scheme for Non-EU First Year students taking programmes in the School of Business. This initiative involves one module as follows: CO1004 (5 credits). This module is intended to give recognition to the time and effort committed to the PAL initiative and the relevant module is credited to the student participating in the PAL scheme. Note: This module does not form part of the credit assessment of any degree programme but will be listed on the student's academic transcript subject to satisfactory attendance at the module.

PEER ASSISTED LEARNING (PAL)

(Economics students)

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a student-to-student support scheme for Economics students with first-year students as PAL Participants and third- or fourth-year students as PAL Leaders. This initiative involves two modules as follows: EC0001 (5 credits) and EC0003 (5 credits). These modules are intended to give recognition to the time and effort committed to the PAL initiative and the relevant module is credited to students contributing to the PAL scheme as follows:
EC0001 is for PAL Participants, i.e. first-year students taking Economics in BA (EC1131), BComm (EC1207), BComm International (EC1202), BA Economics (Through Transformational Learning) (EC1107) or BSc Finance (EC1209).
EC0003 is for PAL Leaders, i.e. third or fourth year students with a major or joint honours or equivalent credits in Economics in the BA, BA Economics (Through Transformational Learning), BComm, BComm International or BSc Finance who have passed first year Economics.
Note: These modules do not form part of the credit assessment of any degree programme but will be listed on the student's academic transcript subject to passing the module. Students wishing to participate in this scheme should contact the Student Services Office of the School of Economics in Aras na Laoi.
