To be admitted to the School of Business for the programme of study leading to the degree of BComm (Hons) (International), an applicant must have met the specified language requirements as detailed here. Students opting for one of the first four BComm (Hons) (International) Degrees listed above will spend a year abroad pursuing an appropriate course of study or, in the case of BComm (Hons) (International) with Irish, some students will spend a period in internship and complete a series of projects/reports.

Students can complete The Third Year of Commerce (International) via one of the following three pathways:
1. Students spending Third Year Abroad or on Placement
Year Abroad Students (i.e. students taking French or German or Italian or Hispanic Studies or Irish language students who opt to spend the year abroad):
This year is spent pursuing approved programmes of study in a country of the student's major continental language. Programmes taken will be validated by the host institution. To fulfil requirements for the successful completion of this year, a student must achieve a pass standard, as applied by the host institution, on a set of courses approved by the School of Business, UCC. Marks shall be submitted to the Autumn Examination Board, UCC with a Supplemental Board in Winter. Failed elements of continuous assessment must be re-submitted. Where failed elements are re-submitted, a student will continue his or her studies subject to passing the winter examination board.
Irish Language Students
Students will be required to spend a period in internship and complete the following modules to the value of 60 credits:

GA3043 Tionscnamh Gaeilge (10 credits)
Irish language students may spend this year pursuing approved programmes of study in a partner university abroad. It is important to note that these places are limited. Students interested in availing of the study abroad option will indicate their interest by the last Friday in January of their second year. Should the demand for places exceed the number of places available, the places will be allocated by random selection.

Spanish Language Students
Students may opt to:
1. Attend a full academic year in a host university;
OR
2. Attend university and undertake a work placement.
Option 1
Students taking option 1 (full academic year) may:
take an academic placement worth 60 credits at the host institution
OR
take an academic placement worth 50 credits at the host institution and
the online Spanish module HS3012 (10 credits).
Option 2
Students taking option 2 (attend university and undertake a work
placement) must complete the International Work Placement module HS3011
(15 credits) and the online Spanish module HS3012 (10
credits), combined with an academic placement at university worth 35
credits.
In both cases, modules to the value of 60 credits must
be taken.

2. Students spending Third Year in UCC

This option is available to students (1) who are unable to travel to their host university as a result of Covid-19 or (2) whose host university is no longer able to accept international students as a result of Covid-19. To fulfil requirements for the successful completion of this year, a student must achieve a pass standard, as applied by the host institution, on a set of courses approved by the School of Business, UCC. Marks shall be submitted to the Autumn Examination Board, UCC with a Supplemental Board in Winter. Failed elements of continuous assessment must be re-submitted. Where failed elements are re-submitted, a student will continue his or her studies subject to passing the Winter Examination Board.
Irish Language Students (Completing One Semester only of Placement)
Students may be allowed to complete one semester in UCC and a second semester in internship and complete the following modules to the value of 30 credits:
