The MSc in International Accounting Practice is a full-time programme taken over 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

Applicants must normally have a primary degree with a grade of Second Class Honours, Grade 2 (2H2) [NFQ Level 8] or the expectation of graduating with a Second Class Honours, Grade 2 (2H2) degree [NFQ Level 8] in the year of entry. Candidates with equivalent educational and/or professional qualifications may also be considered as deemed appropriate by the Head of Department. All applicants must also submit a personal statement (minimum of 200 words) to the satisfaction of the Programme Director.

All applicants whose first language is not English are required to sit either an IELTS test or a recognised equivalent test. The minimum requirement is an IELTS score of 6.5, and with no individual section lower than 5.5. An exception may be granted where a candidate has been awarded a university degree where the overall content has been delivered in the English language.

The programme for the degree of MSc consists of two parts as set out below. Part I consists of nine taught modules (to the value of 60 credits). Part II consists of 30 credits devoted to the development of independent research skills and lifelong learning practices relevant to the work of a modern accountant in practice, industry and financial services.

Examinations

Exit Award: Postgraduate Diploma in International Accounting Practice (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
Students who successfully achieve the pass standard in Part I may choose not to proceed to Part II and choose instead to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in International Accounting Practice.
