This programme is open to visiting undergraduate Law students, who have at least one year of third level law successfully completed. English language requirements as per International Office policy or the College of Business and Law: minimum IELTS 6.5 (with no individual section lower than 5.5).

The programme is delivered in one semester on a full-time basis.

Students take 30 credits as follows:

LW1108 Introduction to the Legal System (5 credits)
LW2100 Constitutional and Institutional Law of the European Union (5 credits)
LW2205 Commercial Law: The Law of Sale and Agency (5 credits)
LW3301 Employment Law: Contracts, Rights and Termination (5 credits)
LW3316 Financial Services: Law and Regulation (5 credits)
LW3368 Principles of Revenue Law (5 credits)

Programme Learning Outcomes for the Certificate in European Business Law (NFQ Level 8, Special Purpose Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

• Evaluate primary and secondary legal materials relating to business law including legislation (domestic and European), case-law and academic commentary;
• Apply their knowledge of legal principles to hypothetical fact scenarios of relevance to European business law;
• Demonstrate an ability to review and synthesise law relating to business within the European Union;
• Use Information Technology appropriately for legal research and writing;
• Write clearly and in appropriate legal style, in accordance with legal writing standards.
