MSc (Project Management)

NFQ Level 9, Major Award

The MSc in Project Management is a part-time programme taken over two years. Year 1 is run over one academic year (9 months) and Year 2 is run over one calendar year (12 months).

Applications are invited from experienced professionals with:

Consideration may be given to applicants who do not fully meet the above criteria but who have significant senior professional experience in a related field such as engineering, construction, operations and software development.

All applicants are required to complete a supplementary form. Participants will be selected on the basis of the information supplied in their application and supplementary information. The university reserve the right to interview applicants to help make determinations.

In Part I (Years 1 and 2), students take taught modules to the value of 60 credits. In Part II, students undertake a dissertation to the value of 30 credits.
To progress to Part I Year 2, students must successfully pass modules to the value of 30 credits in Part I Year 1, achieving an aggregate mark of at least 50%. To be eligible to submit Part II, students must successfully pass all taught modules (Part I) and achieve an aggregate mark of at least 50% in Part I Year 2. Note: Students who registered on the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Project Management with ACE in or prior to Academic Year 2018/19 will continue to progress within the requirements of the ACE Calendar Entry that applied at point of registration for pass and progression purposes.

Students take 90 credits as follows:

Part I - Year 1
MG6810 Project Management (10 credits)
MG6811 Strategy, Leadership and Change (10 credits)
MG6812 Innovative Problem Solving and Decision Making (10 credits)

Exit Award: Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management
Upon successful completion of modules to the value of 60 credits in Part I, students who pass with an aggregate mark of less than 50%, or who choose not to progress to Part II, may opt to exit the programme and be conferred with a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management.

Exit Award: Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management
Upon successful completion of modules to the value of 30 credits in Year 1, students (including those who pass with an aggregate mark of less than 50%) may opt to exit the programme and be conferred with a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management.
