MSc (Finance (Corporate Finance))

NFQ Level 9, Major Award

The MSc (Finance (Corporate Finance)) may be taken full-time over 12 months.

To be eligible for consideration applicants must have:

Applicants who achieve a 2H2 degree will be assessed on a case by case basis.

The programme for the degree of MSc (Finance (Corporate Finance)) is taken in two parts set out below. Part I consists of a combination of examinations and coursework in a set of specified taught modules to the value of 60 credits. Part II consists of a Research Project or a Corporate Internship to the value of 30 credits.

Students take 90 credits as follows:

Part I
AC6101 Project Finance (5 credits)
AC6102 Investments (5 credits)
AC6103 Capital Markets (5 credits)
AC6105 Risk Management (5 credits)
AC6106 Corporate Restructuring (5 credits)
AC6108 Venture Capital and Private Equity (5 credits)
AC6110 Business Research Skills (5 credits)
AC6113 Financial Analysis and Forecasting (5 credits)
FI6001 Treasury Risk Management (5 credits)
FI6002 Regulation and Compliance in Capital Markets (5 credits)
FI6005 Equity Valuation (5 credits)
FI6006 Professional Development (5 credits)

Part II
AC6111 Research Project (30 credits)
Students are required to submit the research project by the first Friday in October in the academic year, following completion of MSc Part I.
Or
AC6123 Corporate Internship (30 credits)
Students will undertake an internship with a relevant company in an area appropriate to the programme and will submit a Placement Report by the first Friday of October in the academic year, following completion of MSc Part I.

Exit Award: Postgraduate Diploma in Finance (Corporate Finance) (NFQ Level 9, Major award)
Students who successfully achieve the pass standard in Part I may opt not to proceed to Part II and may opt instead to exit the programme and be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Finance.
