The MSc (Economics) may be taken full-time over 12 months or part-time over 24 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

To be eligible for consideration applicants must have:
A 2H1 degree or equivalent in a business programme OR the expectation of graduating with a 2H1 degree or equivalent in a business programme in the year of entry. In addition, business graduates must have passed at least 5 credits (or equivalent) in a quantitative module such as econometrics, statistics or mathematics as in the opinion of the Department of Economics qualifies the candidate to undertake the MSc Economics programme.
OR
A 2H1 degree or equivalent in a quantitative cognate discipline such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or equivalent.

Applicants who achieve a 2H2 degree will be assessed on a case by case basis.

The MSc (Economics) programme is in two parts as set out below. Part I consists of a combination of examination and coursework in a set of specified taught modules to the value of 60 credits. Part II consists of a dissertation to the value of 30 credits.

Students who pass Part I may choose not to proceed to Part II and may exit the programme and be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics.
