The MEngSc (Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction) is a full-time programme running for 12 months or a part-time programme running for 24 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

Candidates must have a BE (Hons) or BEng (Hons) or a Second Class Honours degree in Computer Science. The minimum grade is 2H2 or equivalent. However, candidates with equivalent academic qualifications and suitable experience may be accepted (e.g. finalized 8th semester of Dipl.-Ing. Curriculum) subject to the approval of College of Science, Engineering and Food Science. All applicants whose first language is not English are required to sit either an IELTS or TOEFL test. The English Language Requirements for Postgraduate Degree Programmes in the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science are minimum IELTS 6 .5 (with no individual section lower than 6.0)

Students take 90 credits as follows:

Full-time
Students take modules to the value of 90 credits, with 40 credits being taken from compulsory modules and 20 credits being taken from the elective modules. Additionally, students must complete the Dissertation in IT in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (CE6031 - 30 credits).

The choice of modules is subject to the approval of the Programme Coordinator.

Part-time
The programme of study for part-time students must be approved in advance by the Programme Coordinator and the College of Science, Food Science and Engineering.

Part I
Core Modules
Students take 40 credits as follows:

Students take 20 credits (10 credits must be taken in Semester 1 and 10 credits in Semester 2) from the following:

Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction
Students who pass each module but fail to achieve the requisite grade of 50% across the taught modules and in the Dissertation will be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction. Candidates passing Part I of the programme who do not wish to proceed to Part II or fail Part II may opt to be conferred with a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction.

• Evaluate critically the engineering, economic, environmental, societal, and legal impacts of complex engineering systems by applying information modeling, management, and retrieval in a holistic way;
• Plan, conduct, manage and document experiments and R&D-projects including data management and analysis, knowledge management, and aspects of interdisciplinary information exchange;
• Set-up, manage, and lead engineering teams through the informed application and integration of information and communication technologies and the application of business process modeling tools and methodologies;
• Communicate effectively with the engineering community and the engineering society through the appropriate application of IT-supported communication and presentation tools and the collective development of scientific publications.
