THE DEGREE OF ME

Regulations
A candidate who has been the holder of the BE (Hons) Primary Degree for at least three years is eligible to obtain the ME Degree, on fulfilling the following conditions:

a. he/she must submit a satisfactory dissertation on an approved branch or branches of Engineering in which he/she has been engaged.
b. he/she must pass a prescribed examination, both written and oral, on:
i. The branch or branches of Engineering in which he/she has been engaged; and
ii. Such other subjects as the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science may prescribe. College may grant exemption from all or part of the written examination to a candidate who has obtained the BE (Hons) Degree with First Class Honours, or who is the author of technical papers in approved journals, or who submits satisfactory evidence that his/her professional experience has included a high degree of responsibility on works of considerable importance. In all cases, however, the candidate must present himself/herself for an oral examination.
c. he/she must present evidence of professional experience. In order to satisfy this requirement, a candidate must have had professional experience in a responsible capacity for at least three years. A detailed statement of the experience gained and the responsibility exercised, vouched for by the engineer or engineers in charge, must be submitted.

A candidate for the Degree of ME must be accepted by the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science before 1st March in the year in which he/she intends to be examined. Application should be made to the Registrar and Vice-President for Academic Affairs before 15th January, giving particulars of the branch of Engineering selected, the title of the dissertation, details of his/her professional experience and other relevant particulars.
