MComm (Business Economics)

NFQ Level 9, Major Award

The MComm (Business Economics) programme is primarily aimed at experienced practitioners working in industry, semi-state bodies and relevant government organisations. It is primarily a research programme and may be taken full-time over 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme or part-time over 24 months from the date of first registration for the programme for students who wish to conduct full-time careers while studying for their degree. The programme may also include seminars/workshops, Internet-based communication and education technology such as Blackboard.

A candidate who is the holder of a degree or other professional qualification or appropriate relevant experience and who has a minimum of three years' professional business/administrative experience is eligible for the MComm (Business Economics) programme, subject to the approval of the Graduate Studies Committee.

A candidate for the MComm (Business Economics) Degree must:
a. undertake research in a topic determined by the appropriate Department;
b. present a thesis on the approved topic;
c. present for an oral examination on the subject matter of his/her thesis.
