MSc (Business Information Systems)

NFQ Level 9, Major Award

The MSc in Business Information Systems is a full-time programme running for 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

To be eligible for the MSc in Business Information Systems programme candidates must hold at least a Second Class Honours Grade II primary degree or equivalent, with appropriate information systems or computing technology skills content.

Candidates who do not meet or achieve the Second Class Honours Grade II standard may be admitted to the programme on the basis of extensive practical or professional experience as deemed appropriate by the Professor of Business Information Systems and the School of Business.

Students take taught modules and a group project (IS6610) to the value of 90 credits. A software development skills course is provided and students who have previously studied similar material can apply for an exemption.

IS6029 IS and Organisational Performance (5 credits)
IS6044 Financial metrics for business performance (5 credits)

IS6610 Innovative Software Enterprise Project (20 credits)

Repeat Provision - MSc (Business Information Systems)

From 2016/17 this Programme will be replaced by the MSc (Information Systems Risk Management) and MSc (Business Information Systems Analytics). Students who require a repeat examination beyond Autumn 2016 will be offered a repeat in a new module that most closely matches the original failed module.
