PX2000 Undergraduate Work Placement (for the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences) is a 5-credit second-year module designed to enhance the employability skills of students of CACSSS. This module is taken in addition to students’ 60-credit workload for the year. Students wishing to take this module should ensure that there is no conflict with the timetable for their main programme of study. There is no fee for this module.
Attendance at, and examination in, this module will be recorded on the
student transcript subject to satisfactory completion of the module. This
module will not contribute to the final degree award.
Placements are arranged in conjunction with UCC’s Careers service, and can take place in the first, second and third (summer period between years two and three) semesters, but should finish no later than early August, with assessments submitted by the first Friday of September.
Second-year students of any of the degree programmes offered by CACSSSS will receive email notification to their university email accounts when the module is open to recruitment. Students wishing to participate in this scheme should follow the instructions in that email.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
It is only possible to take this module once. Students who take this module are not able to take module PX3000.
PX3000 Undergraduate Work-Experience Recognition (for the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences) is a 5-credit final-year module designed to provide retrospective university recognition of the employability skills and professional work experience acquired by students of CACSSS during the course of their studies. Students are advised to avail of the services provided by Careers when planning their work placement. This module is taken in addition to students’ 60-credit workload for the year. Students wishing to select this module should ensure that there is no conflict with the timetable for their main programme of study. There is no fee for this module.
Attendance at, and examination in, this module will be recorded on the student transcript subject to satisfactory completion of the module. The placements can take place at any point during a student’s undergraduate studies at UCC up to and including the first Semester of final year. While students may complete the placement at any point up to the end of semester 1 of their final year, students register for the module in the second semester of final year, submitting the documentation specified in the module description in the Book of Modules for retrospective accreditation no later than the last day of the teaching period of semester 2.
The module is available only to students in the final year of their programme taking one of the degree programmes offered by CACSSS. Work placements completed for other modules and/or for credit cannot be considered.
Eligible students will receive an email to their official UCC email accounts when the module is open for registration.
